ROHM Education & Outreach: UTOPIA, Possible Horizons
Royal Opera House Muscat has launched UTOPIA: Possible Horizons, its Education and Community Outreach programme for the 2026/27 season. The programme puts children’s curiosity at the heart of learning, turning imagination into a catalyst for workshops, performances and community events that welcome people of all ages into the performing arts. SERIES
ROHM’s outreach series runs throughout the season and includes Let’s Read!, story led sessions that introduce children to the world of opera through books and performance; Backstage Pass!, behind the scenes visits that reveal how a production is built; Lunch Music, informal daytime concerts in the Opera Galleria; Opera Talks, conversations with artists and creative teams in the music library; and The Best Within Us, a series exploring the values and stories behind the season’s productions.
FAMILY SHOWS
Younger audiences and their families are welcomed through two dedicated strands. Opera Baby introduces babies and toddlers to music and movement in a relaxed, sensory friendly setting, while Opera Education brings age appropriate opera experiences into the classroom and onto the ROHM stage for school groups.
SPECIAL PROJECTS
Beyond the regular series, the 2026/27 programme includes a number of special projects: Open Doors, which widens access to the opera house for community groups; BEATS, a percussion and rhythm based outreach initiative; the ROHM Children’s Choir; Emerging Talents, supporting young Omani performers; a Joint Orchestra bringing together student and professional musicians; visits to the Pipe Organ Factory; and a Summer Camp for young people during the school break.
AN EARLY LOOK AT THE SCHEDULE
The education calendar for the opening of the season is built around Rigoletto, the production that launches ROHM’s fifteenth anniversary year. Confirmed sessions include Opera Baby, Rigoletto’s Garden for nurseries and for families, Let’s Read, Rigoletto, Lunch Music, Rigoletto, and Opera Talks, Rigoletto, with further dates to be added to the calendar as the season progresses.
