Optocore returned to ROHM for a repeat training session on the venue’s fibre optic network, refreshing the team’s knowledge and bringing newer members of the department up to speed.
Training overview
This repeat session covered the same ground as the department’s first Optocore training, working through the system architecture that links the stage, the COMMS room and the control room, and the types of optical fibre used across the installation. With a larger group in the room, including staff who had not attended the first session, the pace allowed more time for questions on how the network is actually used day to day.
The group also reviewed the network topologies supported by the system and ROHM’s own layout, then went through the devices on the network and their applications, reinforcing fault finding and patching knowledge across a wider group of the Sound and Broadcast team.
Training milestones
- Refreshed understanding of the Optocore system architecture
- Reviewed the optical fibre types used across the installation
- Covered the network topologies supported by the system
- Reviewed the devices on the network and their applications
- Brought a wider group of the department up to speed on the network
Next steps
With a larger group now confident on the Optocore network, the department has more depth to call on for patching and troubleshooting across productions. The next step is keeping that knowledge current as the network grows, with newer starters continuing to shadow experienced staff on live shows.
