The first session of the Audio Academy microphones course introduced the essential microphones used in home studios, recording studios and live sound, combining remote study with assessment at ROHM.
Training dates: 21 May to 19 July 2020
Training overview
The first session of the Audio Academy microphones course covered the microphones the department relies on in recording studios and for live work: how they are built, how they capture sound and what each type is best used for. It was delivered during the 2020 confinement period, with the instructor’s handouts studied remotely and a written assignment submitted online through Google Classroom. Once staff were back in the building, the material was revised in classroom sessions at ROHM in July, before each trainee sat an individual pre-quiz and a final quiz in front of the instructor.
