An overview of the Avid S6L digital mixing console, paired with an introduction to audio fundamentals: wavelength and the directivity of frequencies.

Training overview
The sessions gave a global view of the audio console using the Avid S6L, then stepped back to the physics behind what the console controls.
- Gain structure, line and mic inputs, and phantom power
- Filters (HPF and LPF), parametric EQ, high and low shelving, bell and Q factor
- Aux sends, pre and post fader, and output EQ
- Introduction to wavelength and the directivity of frequencies
Training milestones
- Navigating the S6L channel strip and setting gain structure
- Applying filters and EQ with an understanding of Q and shelving
- Relating wavelength to how different frequencies spread in a space
Next steps
Next sessions will build a show file on the S6L and run a virtual soundcheck, putting gain structure and EQ into a production context.
