Vilar de Mouros Music Festival Internship

Three members of the department spent eleven days with Audiomatrix and Decibel, two of Portugal’s leading production companies, on the Vilar de Mouros festival. The first days were at the Audiomatrix warehouse in Lisbon, preparing and logging equipment before it was loaded and taken to the festival site. On site, the sound technician worked with Audiomatrix on stage patching, splitters, stage boxes and microphone set-ups for each band, while the two video staff worked with Decibel on the LED screens, cameras and the OB van, where they helped with routing and live vision mixing during the shows.

• Warehouse operations: sorting, organising and preparing audiovisual equipment, and using the company’s equipment management software for tracking and logistics
• Loading and transporting equipment to the festival site
• Audio (Audiomatrix): core audio infrastructure, stage patching with digital stage boxes and sub-snakes, rolling racks, stage monitors and FOH connections, and live show support for the monitor engineers
• Video (Decibel): core video infrastructure, LED wall installation and configuration, camera and broadcast set-up, and OB van vision control with routing, multiview and real-time switching
• Band changeovers between acts, and ongoing system monitoring and troubleshooting until the end of the event
